You’ll like this book if … you’re a Jodi Picoult fan. Little Fires Everywhere will push you to reckon with difficult topics from multiple perspectives, but a little more subtly and without the deep immersion into a court case.

Why should you read it now? In addition to being named one of the best books of 2017 over and over again, Little Fires Everywhere has been picked up by Hulu as a miniseries, with Celeste Ng herself as a producer. And in case you thought it couldn’t get any better… Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are her co-producers AND starring in the show. WHAT A DREAM TEAM.

What every character in the little town of Shaker Heights struggles with is the idea that the “grass is always greener” on the other side. As the reader, you have the unique opportunity to dip your toes in a little of each character’s world and therefore experience all perspectives. It’s impossible to know the road others have walked in life, and what happens behinds closed doors, and we see this reappear throughout Little Fires Everywhere.
Overall rating: 7/10
