    Young adult books

I really loved (and still do love) the Harry Potter series. I also loved the Book Thief, any book by Roald Dahl, and the Chronicles of Narnia.

    Being Selfish

I struggle with the same problem! I think you just need to keep in mind that people are more resilient than you think. They will still love you even if you turn down requests every now and then and think for yourself. If people don't, then they weren't worth it in the first place.

Help: I can't make decisions without thinking of others.

I am the exact same way, and I'm still struggling to figure out how to break out of this habit. As of now, I guess I just try not to think so far ahead in the future. I've realized I'm mostly so mindful of others' thoughts and feelings because I'm afraid that they won't like me if I don't put...

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that's been given us"

For any Lord of the Rings fans out there, I'm sure you recognize one of the most famous quotes by Gandalf the Grey himself. I always think about this, or at least its meaning, when I'm in a stressful situation. Are there any other quotes that help calm people down when they're feeling overwhelmed?

    Hello Chinese vs. Duolingo

I'm currently trying to learn Chinese, and at first, I was using Duolingo. After a while, I started using an app called Hello Chinese instead, but I wanted to know which app other people thought was better. If you think a different app is even better than these two, then I would love to know...

If You Can't Say Something Nice...

I think the quote could be looked at a different way. Instead of saying that unhappy thoughts and feelings shouldn't be voiced at all, I think the quote can still be upheld if they are voiced, but in a manner that doesn't intentionally provoke the other party. This can be exhibited in stuff like...

    Article about Buddhism, meditation

Wow, this is actually a point of view, or cognitive practice, I do for myself. After studying psychology for so long, I know I shouldn't label people in such a one dimensional way; for example, as that jerky cashier. I don't think it's wrong to feel that in the moment, since we are designed to...

    Individual vs. The Family

I'm an Asian American in her early twenties, and I'm currently trying to figure out how to deal with a sudden clash of values between me and my mom. She expects me to stay and support her as her daughter now that I've graduated college, especially since she's going through some tough times right...

    Being Conscious of the Present

I have personally never read Eckhart Tolle, but I really like this message of focusing on the present moment. I use a similar method, except I also find it useful to take deep, calming breaths first. Afterwards, I try to describe what I'm feeling, hearing, and seeing right then. I imagine myself...
